Product packaging box printing and production refers to the process of printing decorative patterns, designs or text on the packaging to make the product more attractive and informative.
The production process for packaging box printing is very strict. Here, we will explain the complete workflow of packaging box printing and production.

Packaging Box Printing & Production Process:
-
Plate Making
Nowadays, gift boxes emphasize an attractive and elegant appearance, so the color combinations used are diverse. A typical gift box usually includes not only the four basic process colors but also several special colors such as gold and silver.
-
Paper Selection
General gift box wrapping paper is usually made of double-coated art paper or dull-coated art paper, with common grammages of 128g, 105g, and 157g.
Few gift boxes use wrapping paper heavier than 200g, because paper that is too thick tends to cause bubbling after mounting and results in a stiff appearance.
For mounting, we select appropriate double gray paper (also commonly known as gray board or gray cardboard) according to customer requirements.
-
Printing
Only the outer wrapping paper of the gift box is printed; the mounting paper is not printed, and at most only dyed.
Since the gift box serves as the outer package, the printing process has very high standards.
Any defects such as color differences, ink spots, or damaged plates that affect aesthetics are strictly avoided.
-
Surface Finishing
Surface treatment is commonly applied to gift box wrapping paper, including gloss lamination, matte lamination, UV coating, gloss varnish and matte varnish.
-
Die-cutting
Die-cutting is a critical step in the printing process.
Accurate die-cutting requires precise cutting dies.
Inaccurate, offset or incomplete die-cutting will negatively affect subsequent processing.
-
Mounting
Unlike most printed products, which are mounted first and then die-cut, gift boxes are die-cut first and then mounted.
This is to avoid smudging the wrapping paper and to ensure overall appearance.
The mounting of gift boxes must be done manually to achieve the required aesthetic effect.
-
Finishing & Delivery
Finally, holes are punched where necessary.
For those without holes, excess glue on the surface is wiped clean.
The boxes are then packed and ready for delivery.
